On Saturday, July 3, 2010 the 6th Annual Pigeon Lake Pedal will be held at Pigeon Lake, Alberta.  The Pigeon Lake Pedal  was started in 2005 in honour of the many people around Pigeon Lake who have been touched by cancer with a goal of "pushing the cure for cancer".    All proceeds of the Pigeon Lake Pedal will be donated to the Alberta Cancer Foundation towards the purchase of a CT/PET machine for the Cross Cancer Institute - the cost of this machine is $3.25 million dollars.  This new machine will help in providing for the most accurate and earliest detection of cancer.  Research using this scanner will also help doctors to select the best treatment option for an individual patient. 

 The Pigeon Lake Pedal is a fun, casual event in which many cyclists ride 60 kilometres all around Pigeon Lake.  Others ride, roll or walk up to 20 kilometres from Pigeon Lake Provincial Park to Norris Beach and back again with everyone joining together after the ride for a BBQ in the Park. 

The event's success so far has been dependent on contributions from members of our community.  If you are in a position to provide sponsorship for this years’ Pigeon lake Pedal please consider one of the four levels of sponsorship as follows, although any contribution is greatly appreciated:

All sponsorships and prize donators are listed on a handout with the route map given to participants on the day of the ride.   The Pigeon Lake Pedal is organized by volunteers and we rely on word of mouth to advertise the event - 100% of the proceeds go to support the cause.
